SAE Create for a Day Workshops 2025| Brisbane

SAE Brisbane is opening its doors this September for Create for a Day, a one-day, hands-on workshop designed to expand your skills and get you working on inspiring creative projects in the fields of Animation, Audio, Design, Film, Games, Music and VFX!

Have a passion for creativity and thinking about turning it into a career? Come and experience life as an SAE student – get behind the scenes and pursue your passion!

Discover what it means to be a creative professional in state-of-the-art facilities with industry experts by your side.

On the day, attendees will learn valuable practical and collaborative skills as they work towards building a creative piece of work, which they will take home with them at the end of the day. They will also receive a certificate of participation to acknowledge the creative project they have undertaken.

Due to the level of workshop content, this event is open to school students in years 10 and above - up to age 21.

Spaces for this event are extremely limited.

All workshop types run at the same time, therefore only one workshop type can be attended by an individual.

Cost: $25 per person (inc GST), includes lunch.

ANIMATION

Unleash the illusion and magic of movement!

Learn the practical skills used in animation modelling and apply visual effects to bring your design to life. Whether you're an aspiring animator or simply curious about the process, you'll be guided by industry professionals to bring your imagination to motion!

AUDIO STUDIO PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES

Step into our world-class studios and discover the foundations of audio production. In this hands-on workshop, you'll record a live artist, then shape your project through editing and mixing.

DESIGN

Bring your ideas to life through visual storytelling!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll sketch, trace, and transform letters or everyday objects into imaginative illustrations. Using Adobe software, you’ll explore visual storytelling to design a unique poster, then take home both printed and digital versions to keep or share. Perfect for aspiring creatives ready to make bold, unforgettable work!

FILM

Lights, camera, action!

Discover the principles of film production, from screenwriting and storyboarding to camera operation and technical set up in this hands-on film workshop. Whether you're a budding director, cinematographer, or storyteller, you'll gain practical experience bringing your ideas to life on screen!

GAMES

Love games and interactive technologies? Want to know more about the process of Game Development? Then this is the workshop for you!

We’ll introduce you to the world of Game Development, including real-time engines, programming languages, game design principles and player psychology, to conceptualise, prototype, and create digital games

SONGWRITING & ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION

In this hands-on, one-day workshop, you’ll learn how to develop your song ideas using loops, sequencing, synthesis, top-line writing, beat making, and mixing techniques. With guidance from expert mentors, you’ll build practical skills in electronic music production and learn to confidently navigate industry-standard software to bring your songs to life.

VFX WORKSHOP

Step into the world of visual effects and virtual production in this hands-on workshop. You’ll explore how VFX brings film, TV and games to life – from green screen compositing and digital environments to motion tracking combined with real-time tools used in professional studios. Whether you're into post-production, animation or worldbuilding, this workshop is your chance to bring imagination to the screen.

How does the schedule work?

Attendees will arrive before 10 am and spend the day in the classroom in their field of choice. Lunch will be provided on campus and at the end of the day students will go back home.

No accommodation is provided in the cost of the ticket.

Lunch will be provided in the cost. Please advise of any dietary requirements within event questions when purchasing. Or BYO if you are concerned. There are fridges on site.

What is the main purpose of this event?

This is not an Open Day. SAE Create for a Day is a one-day workshop event, where students get the chance to try equipment and work on real projects, in order to assist with their career decision making. Attendees spend their day in the classroom, working with lecturers and industry professionals, to experience what student life is like at SAE.

Is there an age limit to enter the event?

Yes - Due to the level of workshop content, this event is open to school students in years 10 and above - up to age 21.

What are my transport options for getting to the event?

Arriving by Car

Street parking stations are located near and around the campus, however, parking in the CBD is often limited and expensive. Saturdays Davies Park has markets making parking even harder in the mornings.

What can / can't I bring to the event?

We recommend bringing along a notebook and pen, a water bottle, a jumper or warm clothing for air-conditioned rooms, and any other pseronal items that may need. (e.g. medications).

We do cater for dietary requirements. In case of concern, bring along some extra snacks.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please have your printed ticket or email version available for the reception team upon arrival, as proof of your purchase.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

All tickets are non-refundable. Spaces are very limited due to the popularity of these events, and we like to ensure that no one misses out on the opportunity.

If the event is cancelled in unforeseen circumstances, full refunds will be issued to ticket holders.

Sorry, we are unable to provide refunds for change of mind.

2. Event Cancellation

In the unlikely event that Create for a Day Workshops are cancelled, participants will be notified and a full refund will be provided. In this event, the organiser will contact you to process your refund within one week of the event cancellation. Refunds will be processed back to the same card originally used to make the purchase.

3. Transfer to a Different Workshop

We understand that it can be difficult to decide which of our exciting workshops to attend. If you wish for your ticket to be transferred to a different workshop, at the same campus, please contact the organiser via the email above. Ticket transfers from one workshop to another can only be made if places remain. The organiser reserves the right to deny a ticket transfer.
